Packaging can’t just look good, but it must take everything from one point to another. When it doesn’t, customers won’t stick around, especially if mistakes are there.
Which begs the question: what packaging materials should I use, and what’s best for what product.
Of course, you should always do an assessment of the products to see exactly what you need, but here’s the best packaging to ship products safely.
Foam Inserts
Foam inserts are good for hose fragile items, especially if not shaped regularly.
While they’re made to cradle and support the items, they’ll also protect everything from scratching and chip damage, even when the product is jostled around in transit.
It also is light, so it won’t affect shipping either!
Packing Paper
When you’re shipping fragile items, try packaging paper. They can protect items from jars and scratches, but moreover, it’s also cheap and affordable. It’s also incredibly biodegradable, making is sustainable packaging, so it’s better for the environment.
The biggest downside is that it doesn’t protect all fragile items, so you may have to use this along with something else such as foam, or even bubble wrap too.
Bubble Wrap
Bubble wrap is essentially sealed air bubbles that offer a durable, flexible cushion that absorbs a lot of the impact, which is good for protecting shipping and is therapeutic to pop.
The problem is that just like with packaging paper, it doesn’t work as well when used by itself. You need to use this with other packaging, and also it isn’t the best choice for the environment either, so definitely factor that into what you choose too.
Packing Peanuts
These are polystyrene parts that do come together, applying pressure when properly packed up.
This means they’re considered a filler, which is good for offering proper shipping.
They do prevent a bit of shifting and items from getting damaged, and they’re also biodegradable too, so they’re definitely better for the environment. You should try to avoid polystyrene options if you’re looking to be totally sustainable.
But they are great for reuse, and also, they are cost-efficient compared to other packaging items, and they definitely offer some great protection. This means you won’t be paying out the butt for shipping costs either.
The one downside to packing peanuts is you’ve got to pack them correctly for the bet results. When not properly packaged, they do put the product at risk for being jostled around and moved about during shipping. But overall, that doesn’t take much to do, and luckily, once you get used to packing it once, there will definitely be repeated uses for this as well.
And as you can see, they also are a bit fun to play with too. While they don’t offer the popping sensation that bubbles do, they offer a bit of a smooth texture, which is fun to press down on as well.
But with all of these, you really can’t go wrong. The best way to determine though which packaging material is right for you is to look at all of the different options.
These are good versatile tools to help you with your packaging needs, and when you use them with the packages that you plan to ship out, know that you’ll get peace of mind as well from this, since of course it helps to not only protect all of the goods that are being shipped out, but they also usually are economical in terms of space, and you can get some of these for a really affordable price for your packages as well.
