| The
2006 Food Drive is done, and it was a
great success!!
Thank you to everyone who helped by bringing in food and boxes, publicizing the project, and organizing delivery. Also, special thanks to the 32 volunteers who came on Sunday afternoon to help with sorting food and delivering food baskets. Because of your efforts, 20 families received food, a Bible, a Gospel tract, and information about our church. This is a true example of God's people coming together to touch the lives of people in our community! As for the contest...it was a very close race, but the results are in and congratulations to the College + Career class for earning the most points and winning this year's Food Drive contest! You can see all the contest details here and photos here! |

C O N T E S T ( R U L E S )
| It's
time for the 2006 food drive! This month-long collection goes to help
local families for Thanksgiving and into the Christmas season! Please
donate items each week by bringing them to your Sunday School class, or by
leaving them in the box in the Sanctuary entrance. The Sunday School class
the brings in the most points at the end of the four weeks will be declared
the winner. Below is a list of what to bring each week, along with a few
examples of what can be in each category: |
|
WEEK 1
(Oct 29) [a total of 393 items were donated in week 1] |
Green beans, cranberry sauce, corn, peas, soup, spinach, etc. (Canned soft drinks or drink packets are accepted, but will be worth 2 points per package, not individual can/packet) |
|
WEEK 2
(Nov 5) STAPLES [1 item = 5 points] [a total of 571 items were donated in week 2; 964 overall] |
Gravy mix, macaroni & cheese, pasta, instant mashed potatoes, salad dressing, cake mix, icing, flour, sugar, etc. (5 points per item) |
|
WEEK 3
(Nov 12) FRUITS & VEGETABLES [1 item = 10 points] [a total of 204 items were donated in week 3; 1,168 overall] |
Celery, potatoes, onions, apples, oranges, salad mix, etc. (Items that are bagged -- apples, potatoes, etc. -- will receive ten points per bag, not individual item) |
|
WEEK 4
(Nov 19) |
Milk, bread, butter, meat, cheese, juice, turkeys, hams, etc. (turkeys and hams are worth 1 point per pound) |
|
Please remember that all donated items retain their point value, regardless of which week they are turned in. For example, a canned good is worth one point in any of the four weeks, and a bag of flour would be worth five points regardless of which week it is turned in. Additionally, monetary donations are accepted. Your class will receive 1 point for each dollar donated. Please direct all monetary donations to Shannon (do not leave them in your Sunday School room). On November 19, we will meet to sort out and deliver the food baskets at 2:00pm. Your class will receive ten additional points for each member who volunteers during that time. |
