The results are in and
congratulations to the Connect class for earning the most
points and winning this year's Food Drive contest! This makes two years
in a row for the young adult class as Food Drive Champions!
Congratulations to them, and thanks to everyone for participating in
this year's Food Drive! A special thanks to the 49 volunteers who
helped sort and deliver this year's food!
This year's collection went to help Guiding Light Baptist Fellowship in Louisville's west end. Below is a list of what was brought each week, along with a few examples of each category: |
|
WEEK 1
(Oct 28) [a total of 201 items were donated in week 1] |
Green beans, cranberry sauce, corn, peas, soup, etc. (Soft drinks/drink packets are accepted, but are worth 2 points per package, not individual can/packet) |
|
WEEK 2
(Nov 4) STAPLES [1 item = 5 points] [a total of 266 items were donated in week 2; 467 total] |
Gravy mix, macaroni & cheese, pasta, instant mashed potatoes, salad dressing, cake mix, icing, flour, sugar, etc. (5 points per item) |
|
WEEK 3
(Nov 11) FRUITS & VEGETABLES [1 item = 10 points] [a total of 255 items were donated in week 3; 722 total] |
Celery, potatoes, onions, apples, oranges, salad mix, etc. (Bagged items -- apples, potatoes, etc. -- will receive ten points per bag, not individual item) |
|
WEEK 4
(Nov 18) |
Milk, bread, butter, meat, cheese, juice, turkeys, hams, etc. (turkeys and hams are worth 1 point per pound) |
|
Please remember that all donated items retain their point value,
regardless of which week they are turned in. For example, a canned good is
worth one point in any of the four weeks, and a bag of flour would be
worth five points regardless of which week it is turned in. Additionally, monetary donations are accepted. Your class will receive 1 point for each dollar donated. Please direct all monetary donations to Shannon (do not leave them in your Sunday School room). On November 18, we will meet to deliver the food baskets after the morning service. Your class will receive ten additional points for each member who volunteers during that time. |
