2 Corinthians 5:18
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…

New life is a gift from God. Our spiritual rebirth was made possible only by the Creator. The death of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross makes it possible for there to be a reconciliation with Him. In fact, as Scripture tells us, every good and perfect gift is from above. Christians know that our past salvation, our present sanctification, and our future glorification all come from God.

We, who were dead in our sin, have been made alive by God. Only God has the power to take something that is dead and place life within it. He did this with His people, not because of anything good or noble within us, but because it pleased Him. God is a generous, loving, gracious Father, and He has gone to great lengths to provide us a means of salvation.

It is Christ alone who can reconcile us to God. Many are quick to say that Christ died for us, and they are right. But Christ also died for God. Without the perfect sacrifice of His Son, a just and holy God would be unable to ignore the rightful punishment of sin. Yet when Christ took our sin on Himself, it enabled God to remove the debt we owed Him.

For those of us who have trusted in the work of Christ, a new task has been appointed to us. We have been bought by the blood of Christ, so we are no longer our own. Instead, we are to carry the ministry of reconciliation to those who have not yet received it. Not only did God go to great lengths to make our salvation possible through Christ, but He continues to go to great lengths to make its message and offer known to all.

Praise God for His wonderful gift, His precious Son, and His desire to see all saved!
