2 Corinthians 5:20
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through
us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
When Paul wrote this letter to the church at Corinth, he made it obvious
that God expects his children to be His ambassadors, or representatives.
Much like an earthly ambassador is charged to represent the interests of her
country, or a congressman represents the desires of his state, God’s people
are to proclaim His interests to the rest of the world. And above all else,
God is interested in reconciliation.
The dictionary defines reconciliation as re-establishing a close
relationship or restoring to harmony. So, for those who follow Jesus, our
purpose for remaining here on this earth is to share how God has taken the
initiative to reconcile humanity’s sinfulness with His holiness, and how He
accomplishes this through the blood of Jesus Christ. We should share this
message clearly and boldly! God never intended for the world to wonder who
His people are or what His interest is.
And Scripture teaches that this message of reconciliation will be accepted.
God, in His infinite wisdom, has already divinely chosen people who will
respond to His call by trusting in Christ. We can draw great encouragement
from this fact, for it reminds us that if we are faithful in sharing Christ
with others, some will be saved!
This week, make an effort to let the people in your family and your
classroom and your office know that God wants a relationship with them. And
that He wants it so much that He sent Jesus to die on our behalf. Be an
ambassador of God. |
